This summer, a beautiful series of Summer Evening Concerts will again take place in the Grote Kerk Alkmaar. A cozy series on Wednesday evenings at 8:15 PM, between July 1 and August 19. The series will conclude with a special request program on September 9. City organist Pieter van Dijk will present works based on the chorale 'Aus tiefer Noth' after the intermission. This melody, which beautifully depicts the text of 'Aus tiefer Noth schrei ich zu dir', will be heard in arrangements by Mendelssohn, Reger, and Bach. Bach's six-part arrangement features the melody in the tenor register in the pedal. On the Covelens organ, three compositions by the Polish Sweelinck student Paul Sieffert, who worked in Danzig, will be performed. From the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, you will hear Buxtehude's monumental Te Deum. There will also be a musical surprise in this concert, the Trio in d BWV 1069. This Trio is an arrangement of the Concerto for three harpsichords and orchestra. Andries van Rossem, who created the arrangement for organ, suspects that Bach compiled this composition from a trio setting.

Duo concert as part of the International Organ Festival Haarlem. This summer, a lovely series of Summer Evening Concerts will take place again at the Grote Kerk Alkmaar. A charming series on Wednesday evenings at 20:15, between July 1 and August 19. The series will conclude with a special request program on September 9. Traditionally, a concert is held in Alkmaar during the Haarlem Organ Festival. This year, Stefan Engels from Dallas and Francesca Ajossa from Delft will be guests at the Laurenskerk. Stefan will give a masterclass during the Haarlem festival. He is a big fan of the music of Karg-Elert, a contemporary of Reger, who was and is very popular among American organists. Engels recorded the complete Karg-Elert for the Priory label. In Alkmaar, he will perform one of his works, alongside Danksagmüller's Estampie and Bach's majestic Präludium and Fuga in E-flat major. Ajossa's part of the program also spans between old and new. In response to the Toccata terza by her famous compatriot Girolamo Frescobaldi, Ligeti’s Ricercare will sound, a homage to Girolamo. From Sweelinck, Francesca will perform his mournful Ricercar. She concludes her part with the swinging Tanztoccata by Anton Heiller.

This summer, a beautiful series of Summer Evening Concerts will again take place in the Grote Kerk Alkmaar. A charming series on Wednesday evenings at 20:15, from July 1 to August 19. Petra Veenswijk, who is the organist at the Maria van Jessekerk in Delft, is a passionate advocate of the French symphonic repertoire. She opens her concert with Bach's Dorian Toccata, a captivating dialogue inspired by the Italian Concerto. On the choir organ, dances by Michael Praetorius, along with music by Cabezón, Bull, and Fischer will be performed. Music from the Romantic era and the 20th century featuring Bach admirers Mendelssohn and Boëly will follow after the intermission. The Belgian organ master Flor Peeters studied under Tournemire, the last pupil of C. Franck. Two parts from the Suite Modale by him will be heard. Petra concludes her recital with the Finale from the first symphony of her teacher Jean Langlais, organist of St. Clotilde in Paris. A unique opportunity to listen to the rarely performed music of Peeters and Langlais in Alkmaar.

This summer, a beautiful series of Summer Evening Concerts will take place at the Great Church of Alkmaar. An atmospheric series on Wednesday evenings at 20:15, from July 1 to August 19. The series will conclude with a special request program on September 9. During this concert, you will hear musical settings of the Pater Noster, the Lord's Prayer. Stravinsky based his originally vocal composition on the Gregorian Pater Noster, while Bach deeply portrayed the Lutheran chorale 'Vater unser'. César Franck's Prière has its own melody and is particularly subdued in atmosphere. Andries van Rossem composed a special piece in 2025 to celebrate the anniversary of the grand organ. The name Schnitger serves as the theme. During this concert, van Rossem's renovated version will be performed. The rhythm of van Rossem's Anacruse is inspired by the music of Stravinsky. On the choir organ, Rossi's seventh Toccata explores the limits of meantone tuning and Sweelinck's 'Erbarm dich mein', which fits well within this theme.

Yala Music performs the opera RODRIGO by G.F. Händel in the Amstelkerk! Yala Music Opera Collective brings “Rodrigo” by Händel: a gripping drama about a kingdom torn apart by hatred and intrigue. King Rodrigo has a child with his mistress. He thinks this is convenient, as there is now at least an heir. However, the mistress turns out to be very ambitious, and wants Rodrigo to dethrone his wife. Rodrigo is not keen on this. The court becomes completely polarized. At the moment Rodrigo literally has a knife to his throat and there’s no escaping it, his beloved wife brings everyone to reconsider. She says: What if we all step over our egos, forgive each other for what has happened, and work together towards a better world… Whether it is 707, 1707, or 2026: the struggle between power and compassion is timeless. With its version of Rodrigo, Yala Music creates a production that invites the audience to reflect on the legacy to the next generation and on themselves. Composer Boris Bezemer presents The Quiet and The Stormy Sea. In this performance The Black Sea represents the main work: a 40-minute musical journey played on tenor recorder. The sound of a silent sea that rises into a storm and then calms down again is being framed by two works for recorder, double bass and hyperorgan. One of these two works was written exclusively for Orgelpark. The Black Sea was written commissioned by the almost completely deaf-blind graphic artist Edouard J. Swiss organist Yves Rechsteiner brings his impressive 'Explorateur ' to Orgelpark. Rechsteiner built this mobile organ in collaboration with Orchestrionix. His instrument is a so called 'hyperorgan' and therefore much more dynamic in sound than a conventional pipe organ.

Baroque violinist Sayuri Yamagata and harpsichordist Noriko Amano lead Pearls in Baroque in sparkling performances of sonatas ranging from Rosenmüller to Bach. The sonata, which originated in Italy, spread throughout Europe in the second half of the seventeenth century. This programme traces the path along which Baroque instrumental music came into its own.
